The Importance of Having Solar Power

Nepal earthquake was quite devastating for the region. After the earthquake, thousands of volunteers from all over the world flocked to the hard hit areas with an intention to provide foods and other aids. Some volunteers brought electricity to the area. No, they didn’t get transmission from a hydroelectric unit. They brought equipment to utilize solar energy.

SunFarmer is one of the organizations working to bring energy and power to the areas that are deprived of energy due to any reason. The major goal of this organization is to bring sustainable and reliable solar energy source into the developing countries. Nepal turns out to be the perfect candidate in this regard.

Gham Power, a Nepal-based solar power company, also joined hands with the SunFarmer in this campaign. Gham Power has been setting lights and recharge stations in the area since the earthquake.

While looking at these power companies and organizations working to provide energy and light to the earthquake hit areas, it is easy for us to understand the importance of energy. What will happen if the main energy source we rely on goes down? Is there any plan that we can work on in order to get the power? The stability of our grid needs to be taken into consideration in this regard. But what’s more important for the normal people is to think about the backup energy source.

Power and energy are very important in this day and age. CEO of Gham Power has explained it very well why it can be so discomforting to be left in the dark without any power.

First, you don’t want to be in the dark, as it’s scary, you don’t feel safe, and it is also very cumbersome to get, or administer relief without light. Second, in this day and age, your first instinct is to reach out for your loved ones to check if they are okay and let them know you are okay, and when you reach for your mobile phone, it’s dead and there is no place to charge it.

Living without power can be quite difficult. However, the good news is that we don’t have to rely on one power source only. Solar power, in this scenario, is the best option which everyone can avail. Although there are other options too, solar energy can be used to make electricity in most regions of the world.

Another good reason for the solar energy to be a more viable backup energy source is that it is portable. It means that this energy source can help you recharge your phone and laptop and get connected to the world while you are busy in an outdoor activity like camping or hiking. And the best part is that a solar energy mechanism can be a valuable addition in your emergency survival kit.
